An individual consultation starts with your story. Before the appointment, write down the main concern you want to discuss, when it began and what you hope to understand. A few lines are enough; the aim is to help you remember what matters.

Prepare a list of medicines, herbs and supplements you currently take. Include allergies and previous health conditions, and bring any relevant prescriptions or reports already available to you. You do not need to organise everything perfectly to begin a conversation.

Sharing complementary treatments with all of your healthcare providers helps them understand your care as a whole. NCCIH recommends discussing Ayurvedic products with your current healthcare provider if you have a health condition, and advises against delaying conventional assessment for a medical problem. It can also be useful to describe an ordinary day: your sleep, meal timing, work and movement. Describe what usually happens rather than the routine you feel you ought to follow. This gives the discussion a realistic starting point.

Write down two or three questions. For example: What are the next steps? Which options are suitable for me? What should I monitor? When should we review progress?

If your interest is Panchakarma, ask about assessment, supervision, the procedure being proposed and alternatives before deciding. Keep your medical information within the consultation; public social-media comments are not a place for reports or personal health histories.

The purpose of preparation is simple: make space for a clearer, more useful conversation.
